Heritage, 16th September: The MBA students of the Management Education Centre (MEC) of Heritage Institute of Technology have organised the annual Management Fest – PRARAMBH 2006 on September 15 and 16,2006 (Friday and Saturday) at the institute premises at Chowbagha Road, Anandapur, P.O. East Kolkata Township, Kolkata-700107.

The event was inaugurated by the renowned industrialist Shri M.K. Jalan, Managing Director of MKJ Enterprises on 15th September, Friday among the presence of eminent personalities from the educational and business world.

PRARAMBH 2006 is a sequel to Prarambh 2005. After the huge response of the latter event, the management students decided to launch this year’s program in a larger scale. The program is an attempt to assess the skills of communication, inter-personal relations.

The future young managers from different management institutes across Kolkata got involved in an intellectual war among themselves in a series of events like Role Playing, Presentations, Extempores, Debates, Business Quiz etc.

The program commenced with a seminar on 15th September on “Can India Achieve 8% Plus Sustainable Growth?” from 11.00 am onwards. Eminent speakers like Mr D.K Agarwal(Regional Finance Co-ordinator,ONGC Ltd), Dr. Barun K. Dey (Management Educationist) were among the speakers..

The first day of the two-day event comprised of Debates and Virtual Stock Market. It ended with a choreographic competition. The second day had more interesting things to offer in the form of Extempore, Presentations, Role Plays, Business Quiz etc. The Business Quiz was conducted by the well-renowned Dr. Amitabh Mohan of HLS India. The quiz show was followed by Role Play where the participating teams were given different situations to handle. This was perhaps the most exciting and enthralling event of the show so far.

Apart from the host college, there were other Management Schools like Army Institute of Management, School of Management Science(Shibpur), Eastern Institute of Management, IISWBM, NIS etc. who participated in the event.

Army Institute of Management with three first prizes under their belt secured the honour of being the BEST COLLEGE OF PRARAMBH 2006. The Institute came out first in the Role Play, Presentation and Business Quiz Events. Heritage Institute of Technology bagged total five prizes in total. They topped in Choreography and Virtual Stock Exchange. IISWBM secured the numero uno slot in Extempore and Management Game.

The program concluded with a rocking DJ-Night which released the engrossing tension within the participants and helped them to end the event in harmony.

One of the conveners of the event Krishnasish Mitra, a final year MBA student of Heritage pointed out that “these type of events involving all the management institute would help the studentsin achieving a harmony among themselves, which in turn would help each of them to assess and develop themselves accordingly”.
