IASL/Softlink Excellence award for school librarianship

Pressbox (Press Release) - AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY: THE NEW IASL/Softlink EXCELLENCE award

Entry is fast closing for the new Softlink Excellence Award, a new award for 2004 from library technology specialist Softlink. The prize recognises significant contributions to school librarianship made by school library specialists, educators and/or researchers and is administered by the Board of the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL).

The award of $US1000, sponsored by Softlink, will be made to an individual or team nominated by their professional associations and peers. The honour will be presented at the SLA/IASL Joint Conference on 17-20 June 2004 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

Alasdair Darroch, managing director of Softlink Europe, says, “Softlink are keen to help school libraries raise their profile within their organisations and awards such as these can help provide third party validation of libraries’ efforts. The criteria for selection of the award winner will include significance of achievement in relation to resource context, evidence of commitment to school librarianship and impact on student learning and contribution to professional development of others.”
