Good Mourning Lord, a Grief Journal is now available

Merrill author, Alyice Edrich, knows the pains and devastation of losing a child. For every mother who has ever felt the pains of saying good-bye to a loved one, and wished there was something that acknowledged the confusion, anger and mood swings, Edrich’s new book Good Mourning Lord, (available at http://goodmourninglord.com) “shares the powerful emotions of losing someone so dear.”

“The death of a child,” says Edrich, “is one of the most devastating things a mother can experience. It can make life seem so worthless. It can really knock a person off her feet and leave her feeling as though she just can’t catch her breath. To a mother in grief, no one seems to understand. It is through conversations with God, being able to just let it all hang loose, that one can truly work through the grief, towards being healed.”

Edrich goes on to say, “This book is not from the perspective of a ‘healed’ mother, who looks back upon her grief, but of my experiences of working through the grief in order to move forward. The idea wasn’t to tell my story, but to let others to know that when they feel alone in their grief, there is someone there who understands and cares.”

Her own personal relationship with God has sustained Edrich through many of life’s events, but none as devastating as the death of her daughter. Every time she felt as though she couldn’t make it through another day, God showed her the way. According to Edrich, it was her faith that kept her sane.

Joey O’Connor, author of Heaven’s not a Crying Place and a dozen other books says, “Good Mourning Lord is a book you'll want to linger over; finding what you want and need at different times, as you process your grief. You won't find Alyice's journal to be a clinical, sanitized story of grief that paints a smooth path towards recovery. In a powerful and forceful way, what Alyice does, in her writing here, is blaze a trail through the confusing and conflicting emotions of her grief.”

“That’s important,” Edrich asserts. “Grief is an extremely messy process. One minute you think you can take on the world and the next, you are wondering how you will ever get out of bed again. In grief, anger is uncontrollable and others need to understand that the anger is not directed towards them, they are just the safe haven.”

Good Mourning Lord is “…an emotional yet inspiring book,” says Virginia Villasenor, owner of Flutters of the Heart.com. “It speaks from her heart and leaves the reader feeling as though there is a way out, if the reader would open up and express her innermost thoughts to God. After all, God is the only one who can handle our ugliest thoughts without condemnation and judgment, thus allowing us to heal.”

Edrich describes the book as “an active way of working through one’s grief. As one reads the pages, there is room to journal one’s own feelings, thus allowing for a closer step to healing.”

While the book will be officially “released” in bookstores in the summer of 2002, the book may be pre-ordered (send $17.95 ppd. to Obadiah Press, 607 N. Cleveland Street, Merrill, WI 54452).
