British college optimistic about Bangladesh’s prospects
The London College of Management Studies (LCMS) feels sufficiently optimistic about Bangladesh’s prospects to have arranged a two week long tour of the country (19th April – 3rd May 2009)
LCMS believes that it is essential that it engages with a range of people from different areas of the country. During the course of the visit representatives of the college will visit a number of key educational centres including Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi.
The college’s current student body of LCMS come from 41 different countries, of which over 90% are from Commonwealth member countries and so there is a natural affinity with those nations.
Objectives of the visit are as follows:
• To meet with representatives of leading academic institutions
• To explain the new Home Office requirements for student visas for students interested in studying in the UK
• To articulate the colleges desire for a Bangladeshi perspective with regard to business and enterprise
• To meet with perspective students and their families
• To raise awareness of the importance of Corporate Training
Such has been the growth of interest in the work of LCMS in recent years that it has created its own research wing - the Academy of Business and Retail Management, which publishes the Journal of Business and Retail Management Research twice yearly www.jbrmr.com
The Journal has already established a truly global reach and is now eager to receive contributions that give the Bangladesh perspective.
Mark Jones (Director of External Affairs) has issued the following statement in connection with the forthcoming visit to Bangladesh:
“At LCMS we have been greatly impressed by the drive and determination of Bangladeshi students. Whilst these are challenging times for all it is clear that for many people professional development is the way forward. We are delighted to be visiting Bangladesh as this is a marvellous opportunity to meet individuals who are keen to enhance their skills for the betterment of themselves and their country. During our visit we look forward to meeting academics, students and captains of industry. We wish to gauge the mood of enterprise and entrepreneurship and gain real insight into what makes Bangladesh what it is in 2009. Even for a two week visit these are ambitious aims and so LCMS has already committed itself to future visits.
We also hope to be granted the privilege of honouring the fallen by laying a wreath at the Shabash Bangladesh whilst in Rajshahi.”
