Brighton Mother Launches Parent Coaching Service

Added: (Thu Apr 21 2005)

A working mother from Brighton this week launched a unique professional coaching service aimed at women and parents.

Debbie Lewis, 30, is a qualified life coach and nationally-recognised expert in parenting and her new company, Curve Creative Coaching Solutions, is targeted in particular at working mothers.

Debbie explains: “In my professional life I have always believed that what most people wanted was just a little time and space to explore their own ideas, try things out and find their own solutions. But often we don't see these solutions and opportunities right in front of us.

“After having my daughter I wanted to take a look at my personal and professional life and see where I wanted to take it. I employed a life coach and was so impressed at the results I decided to train with The Coaching Academy, London - Europe's largest trainer of professional coaches.”

As well as working mothers, Debbie provides one-to-one telephone coaching for men and women from all walks of life across the country. She also provides a training service for businesses and other organizations to help improve the working lives of their staff.

Debbie says: “Through my coaching I really did begin to see the world through new eyes. There were so many opportunities that I never knew I had - like running my own business - just waiting for me to take them.

“I love being a life coach and the way it not only finds answers but builds people's confidence, boosts their belief in themselves and sends them off with a whole world full of new possibilities.”

For Debbie, running Curve is the culmination of 10 years working with adults and children in a broad range of jobs from being a nanny, training and consultancy, social worker and therapeutic work.

Alongside her professional coaching qualification she also hold a Masters Degree specifically in social work with children and families, a Diploma in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and qualifications in child development and group work.

Her expertise and parent coaching skills are now called upon on Channel 5’s new Trisha Goddard TV show where she appears as their parenting expert.

Debbie says: “Parents come to coaching for a variety of reasons - toddler tantrums, balancing work and home, sleepless nights, returning to work, arguments, discipline or to make decisions such as education or childcare. As parents we are often surrounded by people who offer advice and the newest theories on how to bring up your children.

“We take a different approach. We help parents to trust their own instincts, give them time to reflect on their parenting and find solutions that will work for the whole family. Our coaches are committed to helping parents be the expert on their own children – after all, no one knows them like they do.”
