BISHOP OF COVENTRY VISITS DAVENPORT LODGE SCHOOL

Pressbox (Press Release) -
The Bishop of Coventry has visited local schoolchildren to spread the word of the Lord – and he took the words ‘love thy neighbour’ quite literally!
The Rt Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth hosted a special Advent assembly at Davenport Lodge pre-preparatory school, which is located next door to his home in the city.
The traditional Bishop’s home has been next to the school site for 41 years and the school has welcomed each new Bishop to the school during that period.
This year, the Rt Reverend spoke to children aged three to eight years old who quizzed him about his cope, mitre and crook.
Susan Nalus, deputy Principal at Davenport Lodge, said the children were a captive audience.
“Davenport Lodge has children of many faiths and experiences like this are always very interesting for them,” Mrs Nalus said.
“The Bishop explained to the children why we celebrate Christmas and its special message for children.”
The children thanked the Bishop by presenting him with a painting and homemade cakes.
