Puyallup, Washington -- July 12th, 2002 --International Notice of Discovery:

The translation of ancient stone writings on Büyük Agri Dagi, Greater Mt. Ararat, (first published Edward E. Crawford in National Geographic Society's publication, Research & Exploration, Vol. 10, No. 4, 1994, p. 484) is confirmed by Veysel Donbaz, Sumerologis, Istanbul Archaeological Museums. Also, at a site above these inscriptions on the north face of the Mountain, Crawford discovered an ancient rectangular structure which has the specific dimensions of the Ark, as described in Genesis, Chapter 6. Its lat./long. position is N 39o 42’ 59.7”, E 44o 17’ 29.3” (civ. best est.); altitude, 4500 meters (14765 feet); and bearing, southwest/northeast. Edward E. Crawford of Puyallup, Washington, is Director of Project von Bora, a non-profit research group.

The age of the inscriptions approaches five millennia. The one inscription that Crawford published in Research & Exploration is now known as the Ahora Covenant Inscription. It consists of identifiable proto-Sumerian pictographic word-signs which record essential elements of the divine Noachian Covenant, Genesis, Chapters 8 and 9. According to Veysel Donbaz, Sumerologist, Istanbul Archaeological Museums, Crawford has given a “reasonable, good translation” of the Ahora Covenant Inscription, see News, Personal Report, www.vonbora.org and The News Tribune article mentioned below.

The perimeter of the ancient structure, located at international grid 3927 9654, LAT/LONG N 39o 42’ 59.7”, E 44o 17’ 29.3” (civ. best est.), appears to be intact, but there are at least two beam-like structures that are apparently detached from the main structure. The dimensions of the rectangular structure are 150 meters (300 cubits) by 25 meters (50 cubits). During the climb of 1990, Crawford left his marker of discovery, a plastic cylinder full of sealed glass test tubes, to designate the site of the structure. He has located all four of its straight sides and 90o corners. His discovery of the structure has been confirmed by high resolution aerial photography and satellite imaging.

Crawford gave a status report in Ankara in December 1999. He was able to show USAF Major General Philip Nuber, ret. and USAF Major General Robert Boots, ODC, how he knew that the ancient structure, which had emerged out of the ice surface in the melt of 1973, had again emerged above the surface in 1998. Because of the re-emergence of the ancient structure above the surface of the receding ice during the melt of 1998, the confirmation of his discovery was no longer classified. Both Generals Nuber and Boots advised and assisted Crawford in his correspondence to General Edip Baser and the Turkish General Staff, informing the Turkish Militery of the confirmation of this discovery. General Boots also called upon Crawford to give the same report that had been given to him and General Nuber to the Chief of Station at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara before leaving Turkey.

It should be noted that Major General Nuber was in charge of military mapping and satellite imaging at the time of Crawford's first announcement of the discovery of the structure. If it was anyone’s job in the world to know and to be able to corroborate this discovery, it was Major General Nuber's. And, he did!

These discoveries impinge upon virtually every aspect of human endeavour and scientific discipline. They affect every consideration of the origin of human civilization and recorded history.

Project von Bora is pleased to announce the official submissions concerning these discoveries and the research application for a joint Turkish and Project von Bora research project entitled Agri Dagi Bölgesinin Eski Yazit ve Yapilari. (Ancient Inscriptions and Structures in the Agri Dagi Area). The Project von Bora Field Team is awaiting final authorization from the Turkish Government to continue the necessary on-site research.

A recent article in The News Tribune, Sunday July 7th, 2002, reported by Bill Hutchens: 253-941-9636, bill.hutchens@mail.tribnet.com briefly outlines findings in an edited report. The article can be found at the following URL: http://www.tribnet.com/news/local/story/1377023p-1495710c.html.

More complete details of the findings, historical background and archaeological details can be found at the web site www.vonbora.org.

A letter to the President of the United States announces these research findings and calls upon the President to endorce this project. Also, a portion of the cover note to the White House Staff has been appended to the letter to the President. Letter and note follow:

July 7, 2002

The President of the United States
Mr. George W. Bush
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President:

Providentially, it is my privilege, Mr. President, to bring to your attention certain recent discoveries in Turkey that greatly affect the United States of America, Turkey, and the whole of mankind. I have located and identified pictographic proto-Sumerian inscriptions on Büyük Ağrı Dağı, Greater Mt. Ararat. Their age approaches five millennia, older than Mesopotamian proto-Sumerian. The notice of this discovery was first published in Research & Exploration, a Scholarly Publication of the National Geographic Society, Autumn 1994 Issue (see article attached). The particular inscription that I published records essential elements of the Noachian Covenant, Genesis, Chapters 8 and 9. It is the earliest written record of that sacrificial covenant. Also, while climbing at a site above these inscriptions on the morning of August 28, 1990, I left my marker of discovery to designate an ancient rectangular structure, 25 meters (50 cubits) in width and 150 meters (300 cubits) in length. The structure’s long axis (bearing: southwest/northeast) lays parallel with and along the crest of the sloping ridge on the west side of the Karyl Depression between the Parrot and the Abich I Glaciers on the north face of Büyük Agri Dagi. Its position is 3927 9654, N 39o 42’ 59.7”, E 44o 17’ 29.3” (civilian best est.), and its elevation is 4500 meters (14,765 feet). Both its dimensions and its location coincide with the description in Genesis, Chapters 6 through 8. The notice of its discovery, the explanation, and the verification are at www.vonbora.org. Higher resolution satellite imaging and various other intelligence gathering capabilities of the United States Government, which are available to you, also verify my discovery of this structure.

In order to undertake the necessary next phase of field research at Agri Dagi (Mt. Ararat), Project von Bora, a nonprofit research group, has entered into a voluntary and cooperative endeavor with the following:

1. Veysel Donbaz, Sumerologist, Istanbul Archaeological Museums;

2. Alan Gillespie, Geologist and Glacial Geomorphologist, Research Professor and Director
of the University of Washington Remote Sensing Laboratory, who has agreed to serve as the archivist and the critical examiner of the Project;

3. Those whom the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Ataturk University, Erzurum, Turkey,selects to take part in this field work.

Since these discoveries have now become public knowledge and are thus in jeopardy, it is of the utmost importance and urgency that this field research be allowed to proceed and that these sites be protected (see News, Personal Report, at the web site). On behalf of this research endeavor and on behalf of all those in the United States and the entire world who have taken an interest in these discoveries and this research, I implore you, Mr. President, that an appropriate expression of your interest in this research Project and in the protection of our field research associated with it be conveyed both to the President and to the Prime Minister of Turkey. For, not just the historic and the scientific, but also the moral reformation that should be occasioned by these discoveries and this research are the great necessity for our nation and for our time. Therefore I humbly request your prayer and the dispatch of your impetus on behalf of this Project.

In acknowledgement of gracious providence,

Edward E. Crawford
Project Director

The following is from the cover note to the White House Staff:

I received a response, dated June 18, 2001, form Debora K. Hair, Director of Correspondence and Presidential Messages. That response was as follows:

As a matter of White House policy, the President does not endorse or promote a private or commercial project under ordinary circumstances. I , therefore, on his behalf, must decline your request.

Thank you for your response. Please be advised that Project von Bora is not and has never been a private or commercial project. This endeavor has always been a completely voluntary, non-profit, research project. It is an open research endeavor and its findings are in no sense exclusive. If it were anything other than this, I would not have written to the President. I am certain that Debora K. Hair drew her conclusion because I referred to the Project’s web site as a dot com. Either dot org or dot com will bring up the www.vonbora.org web site, but it is properly and actually a non-commercial dot org. Please accept my apology for this oversight.

This is neither a private endeavor for profit nor a commercial project. Furthermore, the special circumstances of this Project are more than noteworthy. In our nation’s history, if there has ever been a matter of extraordinary circumstances, these discoveries and the field research associated with them are extraordinary, affecting the United States and the whole of mankind. The request (in the following letter) is therefore eminently appropriate, for this Project does warrant the President’s wholehearted support and endorsement. And, as I have explained in the letter, time is now crucial.

Both the United States Government and the Government of Turkey are well aware of my discovery of the ancient structure at grid location 3927 9654 (civ. best est.) on Agri Dagi (Mt. Ararat) and of the veracity of my statements concerning it. Its confirmation and status are that of a formidable, non-military, manmade structure (above surface) that is ancient and of archaeological significance. The structure emerged above the surface of the melting and receding ice in 1973, and, as noted in the confirmation, it reemerged from the receding ice during the melt of 1998 (see News, Personal Report, www.vonbora.org). For these reasons, both my confirmation of the discovery of this ancient structure and the Government’s own confirmation of it are not classified and are therefore now no longer to be suppressed.

With sincere gratitude for your assistance,

Edward E. Crawford
