Added: (Tue Aug 03 2004)
Doncaster College for the Deaf has had yet another successful year and congratulates its students on their achievements.
A special college such as this has a wealth of experience of working with Deaf people. An understanding of the complex needs of its students underpins everything that is offered. Teaching is delivered using Total Communication that encompasses native signers, signed English users and those who prefer to use speech, also sport and leisure activity is encouraged.
We have excellent facilities to educate and train deaf and the hearing-impaired, which means our students have the opportunity to gain qualifications that enable them to secure employment.
We teach our students life skills, and develop the self-esteem necessary to face everyday challenges. We champion the right of deaf people to choose a learning environment where they are in a community of deaf people.
We are the leading provider of specialist education and vocational training nationally and internationally. We look forward to continuing the special partnerships we have developed over the years especially with other colleges, national and local businesses and education and training providers.
