FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KENT COUPLE OFFER £1/4 MILLION HOUSE AS COMPETITION PRIZE

In a move to beat a possible housing market slowdown created by the latest interest rate hike, a Kent couple have hit upon a novel way of "selling" their home.

Angela Browne and Andy Jewitt have launched a competition, the prize for which is their 2/3 bedroom historic oast house near Canterbury in Kent.

The innovative move was prompted by the couple's desire to relocate to France where they intend to start a business offering holiday lets.

"We decided to be proactive about getting things moving." said Angela. "It can be very frustrating waiting for estate agents to send viewers and you're never quite sure if the agents are doing as good a job as you'd like."

So they set about launching a pay-to-enter competition offering their house as the prize.

"It's a win/win situation" says Andy. "The draw will be made by the solicitor adjudicating the contest and house will be transferred to the winner with stamp duty and all legal costs paid."

Entrants must answer a simple, multiple-choice question and pay £5 per entry but can make as many entries as they wish, either online at http://www.winahouseforafiver.co.uk, or by mail to the address given on the website.

There's a reserve figure which, if not met, means that the prize will be the money collected instead of the house.

Closing date for the competition is 14 August, 2004, and the draw will be made on 16 August.
