Pressbox (Press Release) - ‘SORRY SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST WORD…’
ABORIGINAL ART AND CULTURE

It’s official - Australia does have a past reaching back further than 1778. During a parliamentary speech in Canberra this week, Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, delivered an historic apology highlighting the injustices and indignities forced on Aborigines since white settlers first arrived – thus ending 220 years of denial and relieving the ‘great stain from the nation’s soul’. Peregrine Adventures head deep into the elemental red dirt landscapes to find a country of primordial gorges, ancient wildlife and highly relevant indigenous culture.

Uluru & Outback Trails – 7-days, next departs Alice Springs 12th and 26th July 2008.
From Alice Springs travel to the historic Hermannsburg Aboriginal community and Finke Gorge National Park, home of the remarkable Palm Valley, before arriving at Kings Creek Station. Walk around the rim of the magnificent King's Canyon before reaching one of central Australia’s icons - Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Uluru, sacred to the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara Aboriginal people. Continue down to Cave Hill, where the Aboriginal landowners offer insight into their synergistic lifestyle and unique cave paintings before listening to traditional stories around a desert campfire.
The tour costs £1,250 p/p including hotel and camp accommodation, most meals, transport, sightseeing and entrance fees, a Peregrine tour leader and local guides

The Dreaming Place Trek - 7-days, departs Katherine 26th July and 6th September 2008.
The Aboriginal cultural experience at Manyallaluk coincides with meeting local indigenous guides and marks the start of the trek from the upper reaches of the Katherine River, across savannah woodlands, and into Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge. Travellers are totally immersed in the cultural, geological and visual grandeur for which Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park is renowned worldwide. There’s a rare opportunity to explore the entire 13 Gorges usually only accessible from the air. Traverse the upper section on foot before boarding canoes at the 9th gorge and paddling through to the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre, experiencing up-close views of this remarkable geological feature.
The tour costs £1,170 p/p including hotel and camp accommodation, most meals, transport, sightseeing, canoe hire and park entrance fees, a Peregrine trek leader and local guide.

International flights are not included but are available through Peregrine Adventures.
