£20,000+ investigation into online shopping

ShopSpy.co.uk, has over the last two years spent in excess of £20,000 at over 450 UK online stores. In this ongoing investigation, the largest of its kind, ShopSpy.co.uk sends out mystery shoppers to each shop, to purchase goods and report on the entire buying process from ordering to delivery.
Just a selection of the big names tested so far are Amazon.co.uk, Lastminute.com, Iceland, Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, Blockbuster Video, Index, and QVC. However, one of the main aims of the tests is to try the less well known online shops, to show potential customers can trust them in exactly the same way as the established players.
One of the mystery shoppers said “Unfortunately the public are often put off from online shopping, due to worries about their security of credit card and personal details and also worries about delivery times. Although online prices are more often than not cheaper than high street stores, many shoppers prefer going to a high street store and getting their goods in person, due to the reasons mentioned above. Our aim is to show that they have nothing to worry about.”
In fact, ShopSpy.co.uk found no problems with credit card security for any of the shops tested. At no time was the mystery shoppers’ cards overcharged, and no instances of fraud occurred during the last two years of testing. In terms of delivery, over 60% of shops tested delivered goods the next day, even when this was not promised. Over 95% delivered goods on or before the expected delivery date. All goods arrived in perfect condition, and no returns were necessary.
