Wild Scotland for Valentines Day

Added: (Tue Feb 05 2008)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Thinking of doing something different this Valentines Day? Wild Scotland, the only Scottish wildlife tourism association has picked out these three alternative suggestions to a meal for two.

1. Highland Adventure Safari for Two (near Aberfeldy, Perthshire)

Popping the question this Valentine's Day? What better and more memorable place to do it but in the Scottish Highlands!

Climb aboard your sturdy safari 4x4 to experience the great outdoors to heights of nearly 3000ft and catch a glimpse of the wildlife that exists in one of Europe's last great wildernesses - Mountain Hares, Red Deer and Golden Eagles to name but a few. Romantic views of over 50 miles can be enjoyed from the comfort and warmth of your 4x4, whilst you sip champagne and listen to the enthralling stories and knowledge of your very own Ranger.

Tour lasts 2.5 hours - and runs from 9.30am and 1pm daily

Price: £60.00 pp

2. Isle of Mull Wildlife Expedition for Two (Isle of Mull, Argyll)

Join one of Scotland's top wildlife guides, David Woodhouse, for an exclusive expedition around the Island of Mull to see the Big 3 - Otter, Whitetailed Sea Eagle and Golden Eagle. Listen and experience the romantic tale of the latter, Scotland's National bird, as it locates and remains with its mate for life. Golden eagles and sea eagles are territorial all year round and because of the Hebridean Islands peacefulness there are close encounters to be had with both species.

Red deer are also very easy to see and in the mountains, ptarmigan and mountain hares are in their winter coats. Barnacle geese and greenland white fronted geese have returned from their arctic breeding grounds and though we do not often see snow in the Hebrides, our highest mountain Ben More usually has snow on it from October to May and this can make for a fantastic backdrop on a sunny and windless day in winter as it rises majestically from the sea.

The Island of Mull is one of the most diverse wildlife destinations in the world and at this time of year, it offers stunning views to share with your partner whilst you chink your glasses and toast your future happiness!

Tour lasts from 10am-5pm

Price: £37.50 pp (including food and drink all day)

One of our professional off road drivers will take you on a tour through some exclusive estates, reaching heights of up to 1,500 feet in order to witness some spectacular views and scenery. Don’t be surprised if you come across some roaming stags on your travels, or catch a glimpse of birds of prey looming overhead.
