Ute’s biggest talent? Making beautiful gifts for her closest friends. Say her friends. Over the years they have received a collection of Ute’s work that turn their shelves into gallery displays: pottery, felt-objects, hand-pleaded scarves and sculptural pieces of jewellery such as necklaces, bracelets, rings and cufflinks. Jewellery that has turned her friends into models - suddenly finding themselves being approached by strangers. Beautiful! May I touch? Where is this from?
Well - from Ute!
Ute, who?
When life is not about making presents, Ute Decker, 37, runs her own translation firm in London. She is German and moved to the UK ten years ago, after having lived in Paris, Toronto, Barcelona and Melbourne. “I have been making jewellery for nearly ten years. I am always looking for the unique, sculptural piece”, says Ute Decker. She turns silver into Bauhaus-style artworks: geometrical, pure, with a subtle elegance.
Having been featured in the German woman’s magazine ‘myself’ (Conde Nast) and increasing requests for commissions and pieces made to order, Ute Decker now launches her jewellery collection to a wider audience at the London Design Festival (15 - 30 Sept).
“Of timeless value and beauty, Ute Decker’s pieces are a clear tone among all the noise. If you need a conversation piece here it is!”
