Villas and beds were amazed by the education authorities and the Governments attitude towards parents taking Students out school during term time for a family holiday. As we all know prices during school holidays prices are far higher than during term time. The big tour operators refused to lower prices during peak season for parents.
So Villas and beds decided to write to over 100 Schools in East and West Sussex offering our time, services , and knowledge and more importantly offered 5% discount off holidays booked through us during this period, this equated to saving of £100 on an average £2000 holiday.
We were astonished that we received only one reply, and that was to say would we sponsor the school football team. The following month we received a letter from our son’s School warning us that if we take our children away on holiday during School term the local Authority will fine us £100. It does seem that the Educational Authority and Government want to punish us parents rather than reward us.
In addition Villas and beds can provide flexible change over days which is becoming unique in it’s self, the reason for this, is because we deal with private Villa owners direct. With the big growth in people booking their own flights they may fail to take into account that the change over days may be different from arrival days. An example that springs to mind, would be Mrs Taylor who had booked her flights to Portugal arriving on 19th August 2005, and She could not get any availability with any other villa company until she approached us to help her.
At villas and beds we take time to get a clear and complete and mutual understanding of our clients needs. We then match our portfolio of over 500 properties to suit our clients needs, these range from 1bed apartments throughout Europe/Worldwide, to Villas on a Banana Plantation in Tenerife, Or Detached villas with own their private pools, Or Villas which are used to cater for Celebrities.

Villas and beds.com was formed in May 2005 by Keith Murphy Having identified the need for a Villa Company to provide a diverse range of villas in various locations on flexible change over days, and while still providing outstanding customer service. Keith has spent the past 15 years managing a successful estate agency for one of the leading corporate companies.
Catherine Murphy has been in the travel trade for 20 years , various roles were managing a travel Agents for a corporate company, and most recently running her own travel business.
To conclude: Villas and beds had approached over 100 schools offering 5% discount on it’s Villas ‘so the parents and teachers could save £100 on the average villa holiday of £2000, if they travelled during school holidays. However, their was no take up on the offer. The following month the Educational Authority issued warning letters to parents that if parents take children out during School term they will be fined £100 , the Educational Authority would rather fine us than reward us.
