The Orient Express & private Schooners to the America’s Cup Jubilee, 21st August 2001
Topsail Charters and The Train Chartering Company are jointly promoting an all-inclusive package of the Orient Express British Pullman and private Schooners to the America’s Cup Jubilee, which is taking place in the Solent 18th – 25th August 2001. (www.americascupjubilee.com)
On August 22nd 1851, at exactly 10 o’clock in the morning, a gun fired by the Royal Yacht Squadron signaled the start of a race that would change the history of yachting. The overwhelming victory of the low black schooner America heralded the beginning of the modern age of yacht racing. Her legacy, the America’s Cup, is now the world’s oldest and most famous sporting trophy.
The Jubilee event will stage races and parades of sail by some of the World’s largest, most famous racing yachts including the magnificent J Class and 23 metres; the 12 metre class; the America’s Cup Class, together with a large number of vintage classic, as well as modern, racing yachts. Up to 2,800 contestants are expected to take part on over 200 great yachts. This unique nautical spectacle will evoke the style and elegance of a bygone age mixed with the exciting close quarters racing of modern sailing technology.
Topsail Charters’ private fully crewed sailing schooners, along with Train Chartering’s offer of the Orient Express, is the most exclusive way to view the racing on 21st August. The Jubilee Race around the Island is the re-creation of that first and memorable race in August 1851.

Private Orient Express carriages for 20, 24 or 26 may be hired without a premium.
