Successful Summer for Wedding Planning Women

Berkshire based business, TK Weddings (www.tkweddings.com), has announced its most successful summer since they started trading. The company, run by Tamryn Kirby and Beverly Pearce is one of the most popular and most well known wedding planning businesses in the UK and this year, they’ve gone from strength to strength.
As well as being part of over 50 weddings this year, they’ve also been making a documentary series for Discovery Home & Health which focuses on the ‘behind the scenes’ work of the best planners in the UK. “We were absolutely thrilled to have been approached by the production company to get involved in this project.” Says Managing Director, Tamryn Kirby “To us, its further validation of how much we’ve achieved in revolutionising the wedding planning industry in the UK. It’s much more acceptable to have a planner these days and this series will highlight just how hard we work to make all of the weddings we’re involved in completely amazing.” “We’ve also been able to involve other local companies in the filming.” Adds Director Beverly Pearce, “There are plenty of top class suppliers in this area and it’s been great to be able to recognise their work as well.” Following an appearance on the GMTV couch in Spring, Tamryn has been called on more and more by the media to provide expert analysis and information on everything wedding related and she’s also working on her first book which will be published in 2006. Tamryn is also co-founder of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP) and is working hard to promote professional planners in the UK.
Of course, client feedback has been excellent for the girls and more and more clients are being drawn to their unique style and individual approach. “We’re probably nothing like most people’s mental image of wedding planners!” laughs Tamryn “and to me, that’s a good thing! We just want to be ourselves and that helps to put clients at their ease when they realise we’re not like films and tv would have them believe!”. In fact, this approach has been so successful that the company is now recruiting for more staff. “The majority of planning business in the UK are single person operations. We’re proud of the fact that we can expand our business in what is still a new and competitive market place.” Says Beverly “It just shows that being yourself in business is one of the most important things you can do.” The team has traveled all over the UK this summer, working on weddings in some of the most stunning venues in the most beautiful areas of the country. “You never lose the thrill of being involved in someone’s day.” Says Beverly “If you do, you’re in the wrong job.” Tamryn agrees and adds “We love the fact that we stay in touch with so many of our clients years after the wedding, it illustrates that fact that we build such meaningful relationships with them that we all enjoy each others company, even after the wedding is over.”
However, now with the hectic summer behind them, will they be having a relaxing autumn & winter? “Of course not!” says Tamryn “We’ve still got lots of wonderful winter weddings to work on, we’re planning lots of events for those in the wedding industry over the summer and it goes without saying that we’re already hard at work on the weddings we’ve got booked for next summer and beyond.” “It’s not a seasonal industry any more.” Agrees Beverly “and to maintain this level of motivation throughout the year means that you have to absolutely love this job. It’s not something you can just ‘do’ – if you do it well, it absolutely consumes you.”
