Retrosweets.co.uk brings back your sweetest memories

Added: (Tue Feb 28 2006)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A new online store selling retro confectionery aims to serve people with a sweet tooth or who suffer from nostalgia.

Do you ever get a craving for the sweets you loved when you were a kid but never seem to find in the shops anymore? From Cherry Lips to Chelsea Whoppers, Sherbet Lemons to Soor Plooms, White Mice to Wham Bars, Retrosweets.co.uk brings back the sweets that today’s big kids spent their pocket money on in days gone by.

Owner David Paton has a background in e-commerce and admits to having a sweet tooth himself. "It's the sweet shop for grown ups open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week" says David, continuing "We stock the sweets today’s noughties remember fondly but didn't know were still being made".

Aimed at the UK and ex-patriot market the store offers an ever growing product range including traditional boiled sweets and some of the quirkier tuck shop treats from years gone by, delivering them to your door.

Many old fashioned sweets were and still are manufactured by small, often family run businesses and in recent years they seemed to disappear from shops and people assumed they weren't being made any longer. This is not the case though, and by spending the past two years researching products, David has managed to find a supply for many old favourites. David says "A lot of the old manufacturers were forced to scale down their businesses in the 80’s, however we've been surprised at some of the ones we managed to find still in existence, and more surprised at some of the sweets we've uncovered after so many years".

David is sure visitors will have as much fun and have the same nostalgic pangs he experienced during the creation of Retrosweets.co.uk.
