Redspottedhanky warns train travellers of increased need to book early

Redspottedhanky warns that travellers will need to make the most of all the available deals, discounts and advanced bookings in order to avoid paying premium prices following the announcement by the Association of Train Operating Companies that train fares will rise by an average of 6.2 per cent in January 2011.

"It is a reality that ticket fares will become more expensive as a result of increased demand on the UK's rail network. The onus is now on train travellers to think outside the box when it comes to booking their rail travel," said Andrea Morgan from redspottedhank.com.

Andrea Morgan highlighted that the average fare is set to rise to £5.19 next year, but by checking all the options there are still competitive offers available if travellers are willing to shop around before they book train tickets.

"Booking in advance and committing yourself to a train and travel date can save you up to 80 per cent on the fare bought at the ticket office on the day of travel," commented Andrea Morgan

These cheap train tickets are usually released by train operators around 12 weeks in advance of the journey, and are then managed on a regular basis by the company to control demand.

"To get around the hike in fares, don't leave it until the last minute to book your ticket," advised Andrea Morgan.
