New this September on grownupgreen!

Added: (Tue Sep 18 2007)

These are the latest features and news items posted on the grownupgreen website for September.

We've had plenty of comments already on the 'Primark Bag Hassle' The full story is to be found on our website at:
http://www.grownupgreen.org.uk/features/?id=1230.
A grownupgreen supporter was aggrieved at the way in which he was 'forced' to take a carrier bag for a sweater he bought at Primark (despite having his own shopping bag) because of 'security issues'; and then disappointed at the way in which Primark's customer services department dealt with his concerns. Read how we followed this up; and look at further comments on the story.
grownupgreen says: 'We don’t doubt that Primark has security, stock loss and shoplifting problems and that these need to be addressed. However, we were disturbed by the apparent inability of Primark to reconcile security and environment concerns, plus the genuine wish of at least one of its customers to reduce carrier bag waste; especially given Primark’s public committment to reduce the environmental impact of carrier bags'.

'Back to School' on our website at:
http://www.grownupgreen.org.uk/features/?id=1260
has links and ideas for the new school year.

grownupgreen also features the latest green policies from the main political parties, and analysis the Friends of the Earth response to the Conservative Party's policy document: Blueprint for a Green Economy; and asks whether an holistic approach to sustainable living is finally being adopted in Britain, along with consensus politics.

We also ask why Tesco thinks it's still Ok to continue to sell non-eco friendly lightbulbs. Find this story on our website at:
http://www.grownupgreen.org.uk/news/?id=1264.

Finally, given our concerns about Christmas cards and gift wrap ending up in landfill, last year, we look at e-cards: It's not too early to think about Christmas! More about this feature can be found at:

Note to Editors:
http://www.grownupgreen.org.uk has been created by registered charity Projects in partnership to provide a learning and information resource on more sustainable living. It's full of ideas, materials and links to encourage more sympathetic engagement with the environment and recognises that, although 'it's not easy being green' everyone has the chance to make choices about a greener lifestyle.
grownupgreen is supported by unpaid volunteers and overseen by the Projects in Partnership Board.
