Myworkman takes stress out of home improvements

Added: (Wed Mar 01 2006)

A new website allowing users to advertise their home improvement jobs to tradesmen is winning plaudits for saving time and hassle.

We have all been there: Hours on the phone, messages left on answering machines, all to find out that the tradesmen in question is booked up, or “doesn’t do that”.

“It’s enough to drive anyone insane”, says Neil Smith, founder of myworkman.co.uk, who confirms that the idea has proved popular with people who have busy lifestyles.

“Rather than waste a lot of time explaining your project over the phone to several tradesmen, spend five minutes writing a description of your job on our website. We’ll contact tradesmen in your area for you – at no cost.”

Having been contacted, registered tradesmen who are willing and available to get the job done respond to the ad giving an approximate quote if required. Neil maintains that the system is advantageous for both parties.

“Tradesmen benefit from some of the most cost effective advertising available, direct to those people who require their services the most. Those seeking tradesmen on the other can save time by describing their job just once to us.”

Perhaps the biggest attraction to the site is that those users that employ tradesmen then rate the service provided, helping future users to judge the reliability of the tradesmen in question.

“We want to be the place people come to when they want to find reliable, competitive tradesmen quickly”, he said.

Neil, one of a new breed of young entrepreneurs who knows no national borders, moved to Belgium to be with his girlfriend and continues to run his UK based company from there.

“National boundaries and physical location no longer play an important role in being able to run a successful business. The new economy is all about giving great service at great value no matter where you are in the world”, he said.
