Mcinerney's First Step scheme helps first-time buyers

First-time buyer Michael Ingham admits getting onto the property ladder would have been ‘nearly impossible’ without the help of new scheme at a development in Redditch.
The 26-year-old has taken advantage of McInerney Homes’ First Step scheme at Hedgerows in Greenlands Drive to snap up a new two-bedroom apartment at the development.
The scheme means that he owns his new home outright but 25 per cent of the asking price is deferred for ten years or until such time that he decides to sell.
Michael said: “It would have been very difficult – nearly impossible – to have made the move without the scheme.
“It has made it much, much easier for a first-time buyer such as myself to take the first step on the ladder.”
Michael, who has moved from his parents’ home in Ipsley, said: “I was looking at purchasing another property but the deal fell through, which proved to be a blessing in disguise.
“I came along to Hedgerows and found out about the First Step scheme and made my mind up within a few days.
“I am delighted with the apartment and can see myself settling here very quickly. The 25 per cent deferral means my bank balance is a little healthier too!”
Angela Price, sales executive for McInerney Homes at Hedgerows, said the company was offering several forms of assistance to buyers at the development.
She said: “First Step is one of quite a few ways we have helped to make life easier for buyers – especially those taking their first step on the ladder.
“I am really pleased that we have made such a difference to Michael and it is great to have assisted him in his first purchase.”
As well as First Step, McInerney Homes is also offering the new government MyChoiceHomeBuy scheme which sees buyers utilising a regular mortgage along with up to a 50 per cent government-backed loan.
Two-bedroom apartments and four and five-bedroom houses remain available for sale. Prices start at £129,950.
