Long Island's new wildlife control resource center

Long Island home and business owners are continually plagued with conflicts from nuisance wildlife. Raccoons and squirrels are taking up residence in the attics of homeowners as the natural habitat is being eliminated. Raccoon rabies has taken a hold and create scares in neighborhoods where they wander through during the day. Canadian geese ravage the golf courses, industrial parks and school playing fields on their feeding forays.
Bats feed off the dense marshland mosquito populations and find roosting sites in attics of homes and buildings.
Whitetail deer damage expensive landscapes and create hazards for motorists on the busy roadways.
Increasing urbanization and the falsification of natural habitat and food sources keeps Long Island's wildlife populations well above the carrying capacity of the land. In turn, they seek food and shelter in the suburban neighborhoods creating conflicts with the families that live there. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation estimates raccoon populations densities of close to 100 raccoons per square mile across much of Long Island. Private Wildlife Control Operators licensed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation are often called by home and business owners when these nuisance wildlife species decide to take up residence or create damage to their properties. Preventing wildlife invasions to the home is the best way to avoid these conflicts.
Five ways to avoid wildlife conflicts:
1. Do not feed your pets outside the home.
2. Keep garbage can lids secured and store garbage cans in an enclosed area.
3. Trim tree limbs away from your home's roof 5-10 ft.
4. Inspect vents and roof lines regularly for wildlife damage.
5. Listen for thumping or scratching noises during the day and at night.
