One local business owner is offering to help fellow businesses and local residents learn about fraud and how to deter it during this upcoming Holiday Season.

“Fraud is more prevalent than most people think and if you don't know what you are looking for, it can be easy to fall victim to it. If we all knew what to look out for and the actions we could take to prevent these incidents from happening we call have a happier Holiday Season Sherwood says. “Taking simple actions everyday can remove a lot of the risk of being a fraud victim.”

Sherwood offers the following tips to reduce the risk of fraud:
1. Shred or tear up any letters and envelopes that contain any vital information, including social security numbers, credit card info, bills, etc.
2. Don't respond to an unknown email address.
3. Don't offer your credit card or bank information to anyone you don't know.
4. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. Check out any offer you are unsure of before making payment.
