Hyundai Sonata - 'A vast improvement'

Pressbox (Press Release) -

The latest Hyundai Sonata is a vast improvement on previous editions of the mid-range saloon, according to a motoring expert.

Auto Express's reviewer notes that it incorporates advanced technologies and European-influenced styling, resulting in a car that deserves to be "taken seriously".

The Sonata's interior is spacious both in the front and the rear, while the quality of the finish is comparable to most rival cars.

However, the car's styling is apparently not matched by its performance, with the ride quality and 2.4-litre petrol engine both coming in for criticism.

An assessor from Parker's claims that the chassis struggles to cope with bumps when travelling at speed and suggests there is a "long list of large cars for this money that are more rewarding to drive".

The engine provides sufficient power for the manual gearbox, although it is a "little rough sounding at high revs", but "is let down by the automatic transmission".

Despite this, Auto Express is satisfied that the Sonata provides value for money, although Parker's suggests spending a little extra to attain a Honda Accord or Volkswagen Passat may be more rewarding.

The entry level 2.4 CDX four-door costs 16,547 and is in motor insurance group ten, while the top of the range 3.3 V6 CDX has a 20,007 price tag and is in group 15.

Kwik-Fit Insurance customers can choose to add breakdown cover to their car insurance policies for a small charge.
