Hut Timber Buildings Press Release Summer 2005

Hut Timber Buildings make simple, quality, fully insulated timber garden offices and studios.

'Spring to work in the Garden'

There are over 700,000 full-time home workers in the UK*, and over one million more working at home on a part-time basis**, working from home is becoming the lifestyle choice for many people.

This spring and summer many people will stroll up the garden path to work in their own home office. Hut Timber Buildings provide the ideal solution for people who wish to get some fresh air between their home and work space. Offering a light, comfortable, stress free working environment, the Hut Garden Studio makes a perfect retreat in which to work or relax.

Last year Hut built a studio for designer Julia Collins and actor Tim Crouch in Brighton. Julia wrote about her Hut.

"Hi Jonathan, I love my hut. It makes working from home entirely feasible – I can be at home yet out of the hurly burly. I can spread all my stuff out and leave it, knowing that it won’t be touched. It was really really warm in the winter, and during the summer with the windows and door open it is as good as working in the garden (but shaded and with a cool breeze funnelled through). I have somewhere really impressive to meet my clients (before I’d take my laptop to a cafe)."

Good proportions, clean lines and traditional natural finishes that blend with garden surroundings are features of the Hut building. Quality fittings with variable finishes to suit the client and a personal service are the trademarks of Hut. Since the summer of 2003 Hut have produced garden studios and offices for record producers, web designers, music mixers, garden designers, musicians and academics. Hut have recently produced a fully soundproofed studio for a London based opera singer.

Jonathan Satchell, partner of Hut explains: "We find that many of our clients come from creative backgrounds, the natural look and feel of the building combined with our original approach and grounding in design attracts clients who need the extra room to work or relax in a stress free space."

In most cases, Hut Garden Studios do not require planning permission and increase the value of the property well above the cost of installation. The attraction of a beautiful extra room in the garden makes financial and practical sense over a traditional brick built extension.

Hut produce two sizes of garden studios The Big Hut and the Small Hut. There are also a flat pack versions available for clients who wish to self-build. This is unique service enables clients with some building experience to put together a Hut from as little as £4245.00 + VAT. Hut also produce bespoke buildings built to client's own specifications. All Hut Garden studios are hand built to order in our workshop in Bournemouth, England.

*According to the Department of Trade and Industry, 2003.
**According to statistics from the Teleworkers Association, there are approx. 2 million home workers, both full and part-time.

Note to editors:

We have a wide range of high quality 300dpi images available.

Hut was started in Spring 2003 by Paul Goldie and Jonathan Satchell. They both felt that there was a market for a simple, aesthetically pleasing, quality garden building that sat happily in any domestic garden and was ideal for use as an office/studio space. Hut originally set up a workshop close to the city of Milton Keynes and began to market themselves online through their http://www.hutdesign.co.uk website.

Their first client was a garden designer from Ealing and from then on the business has continued to develop. Last summer Hut stepped up a gear in production of their high quality garden studios, they moved into a new custom built workshop in Bournemouth and brought in some skilled extra staff to help with the increased demand for their product.

Hut recently increased their traditional advertising with promotions running in the Guardian and Independent newspapers. This spring sees new advertising promotions running in Waitrose Food Illustrated Magazine and The Guardian Space Handbook. Newly designed promotional material is being sent out to prospective clients from February onwards.
