Houses for sale in Northumberland: Country house market thriving in North-East commuter zone

Pressbox (Press Release) -
A shortage of supply is helping the country property market in Northumberland to remain buoyant.
"The great thing about the country house market in Northumberland is the permanent shortage of supply," says James Abbott of estate agent Smiths Gore.
So far this year the agent has seen little sign of prices falling, although they haven't risen either. It's not unheard of for a local buyer to wait 10 years or more for a particular house to come up for sale, and then move in with a swift cash offer.
The prize trophies in the market are elegant country houses within commuter distance of Newcastle. Properties such as Grade II-listed Felton Park Hall can command a premium. It is 26 miles from Newcastle was launched in Country Life last month at a guide price of £2.5 million. It has a modernised interior with five receptions rooms and six bedrooms. It also features one of only four remaining greenhouses with a curved pent roof and fishscale glazing.
