When looking for just the right home theatre system for your needs, there are several components to consider. While many people think video is the most important, the sound system is really what makes the home theatre unique. With surround sound, you hear the sound just as if you were actually in the situation that is playing out on the video.
For instance, in a horror movie; if the bad guy is coming up behind the victim, you will hear his footsteps behind you. When a plane is landing, you'll hear the sound coming in from whichever side it's coming in on the video before it progresses to the front where it's landing. So a good surround sound is important, as it will immerse you in the situation. Sound quality is also important because movies use music to set the mood of the story.
A high quality picture is also essential. While all the screens tend to look wonderful in the shop, they may not look the same in your house; it all depends on the signal you receive. And another point to consider is what you want to watch. If you want to watch old movies or analogue TV that are not of high definition, they may not look very good on your screen - unless you have one of the top range models.
