Pressbox (Press Release) -
Hens Dancing (www.hensdancing.com) today announces record numbers of women joining its face to face women only members club. Despite the economic downturn which has seen purse strings tightened, the social networking club has seen a surge in demand for women to join the face to face group which brings women from a range of backgrounds together to dine, meet, and enjoy social activities.
As an alternative to the Women’s Institute (WI) which targets a very different audience, Hens Dancing is designed for women from 35 years plus, and offers an annualmembership at £36.00 enabling members/‘hens’ to get discounted deals on social activities planned throughout the year. In the first 24 months, over 1000 women registered on the Hens Dancing website across Kent and Surrey.Bases across Kent and Surrey are developing to cater for the growing numbers of women at critical lifestyle changes, including separation from a partner; moving to a new town; city; returning from overseas; grown up children leaving home.
Gill Buchanan, Founder of Hens Dancing, set up the business in 2008, and is a successful example of starting up a business and showing a steady growth despite the economic downturn. Following a stint at Friends Reunitedwhich sparked a passion for the worldwide web and the opportunities around it, particularly the platform for social networking, Gill combined her marketingexpertise, knowledge of the web and her business acumen to fill a niche in the market place that has seen a growth year on year since its launch.
“Both Kent and Surreyhave a higher female to male ratio as age groups increase which in turn offers the platform to bring women from all walks of life together, to enjoy the more female focussed activities” comments Gill Buchan, founder of Hens Dancing.
The latest initiative across Kent has seen the launch of coffee mornings, in Maidstone and Canterbury in the past month. “We have seen 75% of new women attending for the first time, sign up for membership in Canterbury within a few days of our coffee morning launch last week and 100% sign up in Maidstone,” continues Gill.
“There are a number of online forums which can give women a quick fix during the day to share an issue regarding children, work, and other aspects of life; however, what we have found is that there is nothing which beats face to face socialising. Hens Dancing has over 1,000 members and is steadily growing with new bases across the UK including Central London, Bromley, Weybridge, Kingston Upon Thames, Croydon, Richmond and Winchester planned for roll out in 2011. Since the recent economic downfall, we have all been counting our pennies, but one of our goals is for women to know it is possible to be inspired, have fun, form lifelong friendships and experiences at a small price” concludes Gill.
