HIGH-TECH GADGETS AND ORGANIC EATING ARE A GIRL’S FIRST CHOICE
Today’s modern woman might prefer high-tech gifts and gadgets to traditional presents, but where food is concerned it’s natural organic quality that’s more and more important.
According to research recently released by psychologists at the University of Hertfordshire, diamonds might still be a girl’s best friend, but electronic organisers, laptop computers, cameras and DVD players are the type of gifts to set the pulse racing. When it comes to lunch though, more and more are turning away from intensively processed foods and are instead calling for natural snacks like organic yogurts and salads.
Figures just released by Yeo Valley Organic, the country’s largest organic dairy company, show that demand for its organic virtually fat free yogurts rose by 35% over the last 12 months compared to an increase of 9% for the total diet yogurt market. The pattern is similar even when the waistline isn’t being watched…Demand for Yeo Valley Organic’s wholemilk yogurts growing by 21% over the last year, compared to a 9% increase for the total market
Commented Yeo Valley’s marketing director, Ben Cull:
“People might want to use high tech gadgets, but they are increasingly looking for natural, wholesome quality when they choose their food. The furore over GM crop trials confirms that. They are turning away from products produced with additives, chemicals, pesticides and herbicides and looking for foods raised naturally, without any chemicals and from farms with good animal welfare policies. High-tech might be the key phrase for gadgets but organic is the trend in food.”
