Sales of Freeze Dried Food units were up sharply during the first half of the year, largely due to the almost daily warnings of potential Swine Flu outbreaks this fall.
"We have seen the number of daily visitors to our website double in the first half of the year", says Frank Salvo of www.FreezeDriedSurvivalFood.com. "People are unsure of the future. It seems like the CDC, WHO, and other government and international organizations are warning of a potential pandemic this fall and a lot of people are worried."
"There has also been a steep rise in email to our blog. People have a lot of questions about long term food storage and they want to be able to make informed decisions about what they should invest in."
While there has always been an element of the population that has been survival-minded, more and more, the average family is looking into food storage as a way to provide security in the uncertain times that may lie ahead. Freeze Dried Food is at the top of the list.
"Mountain House Freeze Dried Food is by far the most popular form of long term storable food. We encourage all families to consider this as a way to protect themselves in the months ahead. If a pandemic occurs, food supplies could be cut off, and worse yet, grocery stores, gas stations, and public facilities could be closed. If that happens, what will you do for food?"
Salvo recommends that all families should consider having a 72 hour kit for each member of their family. "FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security recommend that each family be able to be self sufficient for a minimum of three days. Now, why would they recommend that? What do they know that you don't now? Well, what they know is that they will not be able to take care of everyone in the event of a widespread pandemic or disaster. Think about that, then talk it over with your family. It's an easy way to get some peace-of-mind."
