Free alarm installations are here to stay...with
Level 1 Police Response and ADT monitoring
Because a staggering 12 out of every 13 alarms are false, the Association of Chief Police Officers has now advised police forces not to attend the 99% of domestic alarms which are non-monitored ("bell only") unless there is a sighting of an actual crime in progress.
The message is very annoyingly loud and clear... Don't expect the police to turn up unless someone can actually see the criminal in action...by which time it will be too late!
All very worrying when drug-related crime is increasing all the time, and more than 4 in 10 break-ins, nearly half, are taking place while someone is at home!
No wonder we're so fed up with rising crime and screeching alarms that are just ignored...
Meanwhile today's criminal gets an easy ride...The problem is now so serious that London engineer, Alan Selkirk, has set up 'Smarter Security' to offer a real solution. Alan is also building a new website "FedupWithCrime.com" to be live by Christmas, when break-ins soar.
“The solution,” he says, “ is a monitored alarm, which automatically gets level 1 police response by dialling an Alarm Receiving Centre. This also avoids annoying the neighbourhood by using a ‘verified’ system to cut out false alarms, and an inside-only siren since you are not relying on neighbours to call the police”
Fine, but doesn’t it cost an arm and a leg?
Not any longer. Selkirk has sourced an astounding deal and it’s a system with the right credentials, installed by NACOSS-approved engineers and monitored by ADT, the world's largest security company.
And the price? It's free! And that includes installation and even a ‘free home move certificate’.
What’s the catch? There isn’t one. As Alan explains, “Most companies quote £700 to £1000 for installation, and so because this offer sounds almost too good to be true, I sometimes have to suggest people ring my local Crime Prevention Officer. And there's no inflated monthly monitoring and maintenance fee, as you might expect. It's the same as you'd pay any other company. If you have 3 bedrooms, an extra sensor may be recommended, when the system will cost £129, but the choice is entirely yours.”
One of the benefits of NACOSS (National Approval Council of Security Systems) approval for the system is healthy insurance discounts from many companies.
