Finding The Right Dishwasher
Added: (Mon Apr 28 2008)
Not that long ago all dishwashers had a head, two arms and two legs! But the popularity of the steel version is increasing, and rightly so, as both spouses usually work and try to raise a family at the same time. Why be a slave if you can buy one for a few hundred dollars? It's not surprising that a woman invented the first dishwasher. While it was hand-operated, it did the job, but the general public had to wait until 1951 - around another 70 years - before they could buy one. Even then they were considered a luxury.
Nowadays the price has come down and dishwashers are being installed in new homes as a matter of course. If you are thinking of buying a dishwasher, there are some points and features that you need to consider. A dishwasher should blend in with the rest of the kitchen décor, both colour-wise and in style.
Capacity is important too. If you have a family - or plan to, then choose one that is big enough for your future needs. Dishwashers come in single and double drawer sizes. If your kitchen is tiny, the single one takes up less room. Power and heat are both important. You want one that is energy efficient and has a heat setting of 140 degrees for hygiene. Three different cycles will give you a choice in how to wash dishes. You also want one that runs quietly and is easy to clean.
