What is believed to be the world's first "cognac perfume" is now available as room fragrance. Pierre Frapin Fragrances for the home were created by Beatrice Cointreau, great grand-daughter of Pierre Frapin and CEO of Cognac Frapin, which produces some of the finest Grande Champagne Premier Cru cognacs.
As well as her well-established cognac credentials, Beatrice trained at ISIPCA, the School of Perfumery, founded in 1970 by Jean-Jacques Guerlain. Here, she had the idea of producing perfumes worthy of the famous Frapin name. She created noble fragrances that are evocative of the very best scents surrounding cognac production. Now these fragrances are available in the UK as a room spray and a candle.
“As a tribute to my great grandfather, I decided to recreate the intimate feel of my childhood home with a collection of memory-invoking fragrances redolent of the warmth, fruit, flowers, dens, attics and simple pleasures of childhood that coloured the soul of the family estate. These are all scents which are evocative of my childhood.” Says Beatrice Cointreau. “The cellar master’s wood panelled office, where time seemed to have stood still, was filled with fragrances of leather, dry wood and crystallised fruits. The attics had a unique warm and dry atmosphere with blossoming scents of dried flowers and ripened fruits.
"There is a close synergy between the elegance of our cognacs and good perfume - and this was a natural avenue to explore and take blending skills into the next dimension."
There are two fragrances available “Attic” and “Cellar”. Attic has notes of Iris, Ylang Ylang, Violet and Rose, while Cellar’s notes are based on Australian Sandalwood, Amber, Cedar and Labdanum absolute. The room sprays are available in a 100ml atomiser and the candles is 195g in a glass container. Packed in distinctive red and white gift boxes, each retails for around £35.
