FASHION WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN - wuwi.com launches heralding a new era

Added: (Thu Oct 30 2008)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Not since Mary Quant raised hemlines and called it the mini-skirt has there been such a revolution in fashion! But this autumn sees a brand-new concept set to challenge the mighty mini. Combining the power of social networking with a fashion label heralds a new era for fashionistas everywhere, as wuwi.com blasts into our lives.

Logical as it may seem - combining the two things modern folk love most, social networking and fashion - it hasn’t been done on this scale before. To have a web-based community with fashion at its core is something very new and very exciting indeed.

Rooted in street style, wuwi is made up of three main elements: wuwi exclusives, wuwi custom and wuwi world.

wuwi exclusives, wuwi’s independent clothing range for men and women, features 12 especially commissioned designs by some of the freshest talent on the planet. Guest artists include the infamous 123Klan from France, as well as BeMySlave from Poland; Russoturisto from Siberia, who designed the bear logo; and wuwi’s jewel in the crown – resident artist Designprimitive from Jakarta. Their high density prints appear on the full range, including hooded zip through tops, T-shirts and long sleeved T’s, giving durability and life, rather than crumbling at the first sight of a washing machine.

But for those with a little more creative flair wuwi custom gives the freedom to interact with the designs to create something truly unique. There are a range of designs for members of wuwi network that automatically integrate the user’s name into the graphics, creating a social network but with a physical form. Anyone who spots a users wuwi ID can then search for their profile in the network and send them a ‘wink’ or ‘heads up’.

“A major barrier to meeting new people is getting over the initial fear of the awkward introduction. The wuwi network provides an ideal way for people to make contact without the embarrassment,” says Jez Curtis, founder and MD of wuwi.

“The beauty is that the control stays in the users’ hands. If you don’t want to talk online to someone, you don’t have to. It provides a network for people to contact each other without giving away any personal information. wuwi is the focal point. It means that the network can spill over into the real world. We want people to get creative and make their own IDs that can appear on anything,” he says.

But if Über cool clothes and a new social network aren’t enough, check out wuwi world. Here entertainment comes to the fore – a place where people can hang out with their mates on the wuwi network, get creative in the wuwi playground or take a stroll around the wuwi forest…seriously!

The wuwi virtual forest is just that; a virtual forest where people can donate a tree that will appear in the woods, with their wuwi ID next to it. But if you want something more tangible for your money, why not buy a ‘hug a tree’ design in wuwi custom, with £3 automatically donated to the RSA tree planting initiative. For every virtual tree, a real tree goes in the ground.

“The combination of wuwi custom clothing and wuwi world creates a totally fresh concept in both fashion and social networking. Both elements can be enjoyed independently of each other. Combined, they produce something unique.”

Your imagination is the only limitation to expressing your wuwi.
