BUG Australia offers interactive backpackers hostel reviews

Added: (Wed Jul 04 2001)

BUG Australia, a budget travel web site for backpackers travelling to Australia, now offers interactive reviews of backpackers hostels throughout Australia.

The web site (www.bugaustralia.com), features reviews of more than 500 youth hostels and backpackers hostels throughout Australia. The hostels are reviewed by a representive of BUG Services Ltd who gives an independent assessment of each hostel taking into account such factors as location, cost, security, facilities and atmosphere. Individual travellers can also add their own comments to these reviews in similar fashion to the interactive book review system pioneered by Amazon.com.

These hostel reviews enable BUG to stand out from the competition as it is the only guide – print or web-based – to offer such a comprehensive resource with independent reviews of every known hostel in each area. Other web sites offer 'name and address' listings only without actually visiting the hostel or list only those which pay for inclusion, while conventional guide books list only a small selection of the total number of hostels.

Over the coming months, BUG will launch interactive hostel reviews on its two other web sites - BUG Pacific (www.bugpacific.com) which caters to budget travellers visiting New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii and Pacific Islands and BUG Europe (www.bugeurope.com) a backpackers' guide to Europe.
