Arco’s new Doncaster branch aims to improve health and safety statistics in Yorkshire

Added: (Mon Apr 28 2008)

Fortifying its position as Yorkshire’s leading health and safety equipment and workwear supplier, Hull-based safety company Arco is opening its newest branch in Doncaster. The branch is Arco’s 7th in the Yorkshire and Humber region, and its 37th in the UK, with more to follow in the year. “The new Doncaster facility will support other local branches of Arco in Leeds, Bradford, Ossett, Grimsby, Hull and Sheffield in guiding local companies through an increasing minefield of legislative requirements surrounding occupational health and safety,” says Gordon Kaylor, Branch Sales Manager. The new branch, at Wheatley Hall Trade and Business Centre will be opened officially at 1pm on Monday 28th April.

Businesses in Yorkshire & Humber are under mounting pressure to improve workplace health and safety. According to the HSE statistics for the region, 204, 000 people currently suffer from ill-health they believe to be work-related and there were 10 fatal injuries, 2,983 major injuries and 11,342 over 3-day injuries to employees in 2006-7.

With people in mind
Talking about the benefits that Arco’s new branch will bring to the Doncaster area, Mr Kaylor said, “Arco supplies all safety products for the workplace, from respirators to smoking shelters and safety boots to hard hats but we do much more than supply products. Our drive is to provide advice and support to companies whatever their business line or size. What really makes the difference is our capacity to understand issues at every level, our ability to work with leading manufacturers and our commitment to value. Working with Arco enables companies to reap the benefits of working with a national organisation with the addition of the local insight and personal attention offered by a local branch.”

“We are really excited about the new branch. Doncaster has a thriving business community, with excellent transport facilities and a growing number of warehouse & distribution industries.

Through working in partnership with organisations like the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce, we hope to engage fully with the business community to improve health and safety statistics in the region and are delighted that the organisation is supportive of our arrival in Doncaster.” Mr Kaylor continued.

In addition to its involvement with the local business community, Arco is also hoping to support charitable and community organisations within the area. Already, the company has sponsored a matchball for Doncaster Rovers FC, and the Club’s manager, Sean O Driscoll will be joining Mr Whitely and Mr Kaylor for the branch opening.
