African American Demand for Black Gifts Increases as Holidays Approach

Added: (Mon Nov 29 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Sacramento, California – United States – In a statement released today, Gregory Perkins, founder of African American Expressions, the largest black-owned greeting card retailer in America, said that he expects demand for black gifts to increase this holiday season. Sounding very much like a man who understands his target market, he outlines his reasoning for this projection.

Perkins founded African American Expressions back in 1991 and has grown it from a greeting card company that was local only in Sacramento and carried only three card designs to a multi-million dollar enterprise that sells over 2.5 million greeting cards per year. They also provide a fundraising option for black programs that are struggling and looking to stay afloat.

“Our fundraising program is another reason why we expect to see demand for black gifts rise this holiday season,” Perkins went on. “With inner city youth and church groups struggling to survive in this bad economy more people are turning to our fundraising program to get the help they need to just get through one more season.”

The fundraising program offered by African American Expressions provides catalogs and sign up sheets to campaign organizers and gives them a forty percent discount on all items they buy. Their customers pay retail and the profits go to support the cause. The need for additional funds is universal at this point so there's a good chance Mr. Perkins is right on the money with this prediction.
