PRESS RELEASE
ASCIZI 10TH NOVEMBER 2008

ASCIZI GOES GLOBAL

A Local ‘mum’ that set up the Ascizi bags and accessory company a year ago, from a home office, is now under so much demand that they are looking to expand the business and to find larger premises.

Demand is so strong for there eco friendly products, they are considering relocating to France. ‘Property is so much cheaper in France, and you can get a huge amount for your money, and it’s a also a good base for all our European contacts.’

Due to the high number of companies now not offering free plastic carrier bags to customers, ascizi’s eco bags have become so popular, that the company is going from strength to strength.

Ascizi is now supplying 150 companies in the U.K alone, with orders flooding in from Europe. There aim is to expand there premises and be able to hold more stock and supply companies worldwide.

There motto is to help save the environment, and to help reduce carbon monoxide in the atmosphere, If by wiping out the use of plastic bags helps this, then they are all for it.

Government may stop supermarkets giving away plastic carrier bags

The Government could force High Street supermarkets to stop giving away plastic bags within months.
Gordon Brown wanted bag ban from beginning M&S sees 80 per cent drop in carrier bag use Easter eggs get greener with less packaging
Climate Change minister Joan Ruddock said she hoped big stores would follow the example of Marks and Spencer who have cut plastic bag usage by 80 per cent through a 5p charge.

"We hope there will be a voluntary agreement but the Waste Bill is likely to receive Royal Assent in the Autumn which will include mandatory charging for plastic bags," she said.

"These single-use bags are becoming a thing of the past and things have moved on even since the voluntary agreement. The public thinks they should be ended and we agree because 13bn are given away every year."

She added: "We will impose charges if it is not done voluntarily".

A Defra spokesman said: "Whatever a carrier bag is made of, using it once and discarding it is unacceptable. Single-use bags are a visible symbol of throwaway society and the Government is committed to changing this.
"Thinking about how we use carrier bags can have a positive knock on effect to other kinds of behaviour. In this year's Budget the Government announced legislation to impose a charge on single-use carrier bags from 2009 if retailers have not made sufficient progress towards cutting numbers by the end of the year.
"This charge will apply whether bags are paper or plastic. Substituting plastic bags with paper ones would result in higher environmental impacts. Paper bags come from a renewable resource, but they require more energy to produce, transport and recycle than plastic bags."
