Cardiff, Wales, 16th February 2010: Sun Chemical and DSR have signed a Joint Development Agreement to further enhance the performance of DSR’s innovative SolaVeil product offering even greater results in reducing energy usage and CO2 emissions for the built environment.
SolaVeil when applied to windows significantly reduces Solar heat gain by over 80% and UV by 99.9% while allowing the maximum natural daylight to pass through into a building interior. Not only does this provide a better environment for working, learning and healing, but it also significantly reduces air-conditioning costs and lighting costs.
The Joint Development Agreement is a commitment to continually evolve the material components of SolaVeil which drive its performance. Planned new developments mean SolaVeil will have even a greater impact on solving climate change and energy issues associated with buildings.
“This agreement comes at a very significant time for the property sector that is facing ever greater challenges with impending Carbon Reduction Commitment legislation, rising energy costs whilst working hard to attract and retain tenants. In a time when Government and the private sector are looking for answers , as illustrated in Copenhagen at the recent Climate Change Conference, we provide a solution,” says DSR’s CEO Darren Shipard.
“SolaVeil is already one of the most cost effective, quickly applied solutions available to meeting these challenges, now with this agreement, and the results it is expected to deliver, it will be even more compelling.”
“Sun Chemical is keen to explore opportunities to develop it digital business and the combination of new technology with an eco-friendly application is very attractive. We see SolaVeil as a solution with great growth potential and one which we support whole heartedly” says Peter Saunders, Global Sales & Marketing Manager of SunJet, the digital division of Sun Chemical. “We are excited at the prospect of utilizing our expertise in digital chemistry with the application experience of DSR to continually evolve a product that demonstrably improves a buildings performance and habitability.”
“We have had a relationship with Sun Chemical for some time. This agreement formalizes that relationship and demonstrates the commitment of a very large multinational and world leader in their field in Sun Chemical, to SolaVeil.” says Brian Hughes, DSR’s founder and the inventor of SolaVeil. “Not only am I excited by the potential for SolaVeil and its impact on buildings in the office, retail, education and healthcare space, but I am also excited about the possibilities for Wales to play a greater role on the World stage in addressing the climate change challenge.”
