Shoreline launches Act2-GreenSmart Bottles to Bags

Ever wonder where your water bottles go after they've been recycled? Thanks to Shoreline, some of them are being used to make protective laptop covers. In November, Shoreline premiers its newest effort, act2-GreenSmart, laptop jackets and sleeves made from 100% recycled water and soda bottles. The products represent the first items transformed to meet Shoreline's self-imposed commitment to make all products it sells green by the end of 2008.
The act2-GreenSmart brand includes products with materials made of 100% recycled water and soda bottles. These fabrics have the same look, feel and durability of virgin fabrics, yet have the added benefit of saving bottles from landfill and energy in the manufacturing process. As an example, one Laptop Jacket saves 11 - 16oz PET bottles and 7650 Btu's, enough to power a laptop for 149 hours.
"For most companies, making a few products green is a wonderful ideal," stated company founder Tom Larsen, "but, we felt to honour our core values we needed to go all the way." Tom's college education at UC Berkley combined with co-founder Debbie Williams' passion for recycling lead them to their only logical conclusion: all products have to be green by the end of 2008. Despite the challenges inherent in this kind of a company overhaul, the two are commited to the transformation.
Shoreline's premier under act2-GreenSmart will include 7 sizes of Always On, sized to fit Laptop Jackets and 2 sizes of Laptop Sleeves. All will be available in Storm Blue, Toasted Almond and Jet Black and will retail from £19.99 to £29.99.
