OPUS ABS TARGETS TELCO TURMOIL WITH THE LAST 'HOT TICKET' FOR THE INDUSTRY - OPTIMUM PRICED, BUSINESS PROCESS OUTSOURCING (BPO)
Opus Advance Business Solutions, in Reading, Berks, is a UK start-up with a new angle on an old idea!
Traditionally, when the economic climate is difficult, outsourcing always returns to the top of the corporate agenda as a viable means of cutting operational expenditure, and freeing up capital.
But in the telecoms industry in particular, nearly every company in the world right now is struggling with a painful cocktail of debt, overcapacity and inflated acquisitions, and they are looking to cut costs dramatically - either by shedding people or by re-organising their business methods, sometimes both.
Opus ABS specialise in Business Process Outsourcing but with particular focus on the needs of the telecoms industry. And, with a set of methodologies that integrate IT systems with Business Processes to deliver optimum advantage that was not available until now.
Where Opus ABS differs from other outsourcing consultants is in their launch of 'Convergent Outsourcing' a combined Business Process and IT outsourcing solution, tailored for the particular needs of the telecoms industry.
Via their delivery centres in the UK and India, Opus provides solutions that are close to the customers' main operations yet take advantage of the vast and optimally priced resource pool in India. The three main areas that Opus specialise in are: Billing, HR and Customer Care. The Opus team consists of experts in these areas with specific reference to the telecoms industry and with added experience of having implemented systems and processes offshore in India for several large UK organisations.
To support this concept, they have developed a convergent methodology called M2, as well as a 3-tier object orientated toolset called HyperRAD, that enables them, to rationalise a customers' business processes and re-engineer their IT systems in parallel.
With these tools, Opus claim they can add a further 20 to 25% to the savings a telecoms company can expect from outsourcing alone - which in themselves are typically in the range of 30 to 40%.
In the style of a 'virtual' organisation such as Nike or Virgin, this leaves the Telco free to focus on its core competencies - the sales and marketing of its network or mobile services.
Opus has been founded by its five Directors - all stalwarts of the telecoms industry with a combined 77 years experience gained from such leading Telco and IT companies as Vodafone, mmO2, Siemens, Telstra, Helsinki Telephone, Bell Atlantic, Bell Northern Research, Hewlett Packard and Fujitsu-ICL, as well as William Mercer Consulting and AXA Insurance.
"Business Process Outsourcing is the last remaining 'hot ticket' in the telecoms industry, because it will save operators money to prosper, rather than cost them money to survive", says Steve Fisher, Director of Business
Development for Opus ABS.
