Microsoft Dynamics NAV Receives a 5 Star Rating From Accountancy Publication

In December 2007 “The CPA Technology Advisor”, reviewed leading software packages and gave Microsoft Dynamics NAV a 5 Star overall rating. The review called NAV “a great choice for mid-size operations of larger organisations or mid-size companies”. NAV’s client load consists mainly of companies in the five to 500 user range.
Six aspects of the packages were rated:
Modules and Scalability – 5 Stars
Dynamics NAV provides components across Financial Management, Business Intelligence and Reporting, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Project Management, Customer Relationship Management, Human Resource Management, Languages, Manufacturing and Workspace Collaboration.
Microsoft’s Business Readiness Licensing model allows companies to choose the level of support they require across a three-tiered flat rate pricing structure.
Usability/User Experience/Security – 5 Stars
Microsoft is now focusing on user flexibility and the user experience. Data entry screens are easy to use. Tight integration with Office adds to the familiarity. The report states the “Product security is acceptable on all levels.”
Extensibility – 5 Stars
Microsoft Dynamics NAV covers a wide range of industries through an extensive independent developer community that specialise in different verticals.
Integration/Customisation – 5 Stars
Ease of customisation has always been a featured benefit of Dynamics NAV. The package has been designed with customisation in mind and this allows for the tailoring to the specific industries as well as to a specific client’s needs. Dynamics NAV works like the Office packages that people use every day and the package is tightly integrated with other Microsoft packages. The ease of sharing information can greatly reduce the amount of re-entry and duplication of work.
Reporting – 5 Stars
Users can build and modify reports. Also data can be exported to any analytical package that supports SQL Cubes. The review stated, “NAV’s reporting capabilities continue to be ahead of the curve, the users will find them to go above and beyond what is necessary.”
Support/Training/Help – 4.5 Stars
Microsoft offers two levels of direct support, Business Readiness Enhancement Plan and Deluxe Support Services. These plans are optional and many clients rely on their re-seller for first line support.
Overall Rating – 5 Stars
“Microsoft Dynamics NAV continues to be on the strongest players in the mid-market accounting software arena.” It is a comfortable package to use and the tight integration with other Microsoft products promotes productivity. In conclusion the review states “In short, Microsoft Dynamics NAV gives users the flexibility and power to support the needs of a growing business.
