iTRACE shortlisted in European Green IT Awards

iTRACE user-friendly internet based travel plan management system has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2008 European Green IT Awards
in the ‘Use of IT to Support Green Process or People Change’ category

iTRACE, the user-friendly, internet-based travel plan management system has fought off tough competition from a large number of entries to be short listed as a finalist 2008 European Green IT Awards.

Designed and developed by iBase from requirements set out by Transport for London (TfL) and WESTRANS, (the West London transport strategy group), iTRACE is established as the ‘de facto’ solution for local authorities seeking to monitor, manage and enforce travel plans and encourage more environmental travel methods.

iTRACE has been adopted by all 33 London boroughs giving TfL a detailed and accurate picture of the capital’s travel plans and the effects that behavioural and physical initiatives have on reducing the use of cars and encouraging the use of sustainable travel methods. ITRACE is offering similar benefits to an increasing number of local authorities outside London including Wigan, Hampshire County, Portsmouth City, Southampton City, Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire County councils.

The inaugural European Green IT Awards recognise the companies and individuals that have demonstrated innovation and drive in Green IT. The Awards, which will be announced on Thursday 13th March, allow influential technology users, partners and investors to celebrate the companies and individuals who are moving Green IT forward. iTRACE has been nominated in the category ‘Use of IT to Support Green Process or People Change’ – an impressive achievement in light of the large number of entries.

“Local Authorities in Greater London have been providing local organisations and schools with Travel Planning services, programmes and initiatives to offset and reduce carbon footprints for many years,” commented Dan Blanchet, the Commercial Manager of iBase Systems Ltd. “ But to achieve significant improvements in sustainable travel practice, Local Authorities needed an integrated system that would bring standard procedures across the Greater London area and electronically store Travel Plan audits, surveys, statistics and documents for schools and workplaces in a centralised location. iTRACE was developed to meet these requirements.”
