Features to Consider when Buying Laptops

Added: (Mon Apr 28 2008)

When buying a laptop there are some things to consider. If you want your laptop to be truly portable, then you need one with wi-fi built in. Most new ones do, but if you thought of buying one from eBay, make sure you check. Without wi-fi, you can connect to the Internet with a cable, but then your laptop wont be portable. To avoid plugging in to print out a document, get one with Blue-tooth and have a blue-tooth enabled printer nearby.

You need at least 1GB of RAM for a laptop, especially if it runs Vista. Your hard drive needs to be at least 80 GB or more. Since backing up your work is the safest thing to do, your laptop needs to have a rewritable DVD drive. If you are into music, remember it gobbles up space so if possible use an external hard drive for back up.

And if music is space-hungry, then computer games are power-hungry. You'll need a top range graphics card and that's going to push your laptop price way up. You might be well advised to simply buy a dedicated games console and keep the laptop for word-processing and the Internet, and then it won't cost you a bomb.
