Broadband WiFi expands to wireless links

Added: (Wed Oct 06 2004)

A Wireless Internet Service Provider in Wiltshire, Broadband WiFi Ltd., recently diversified their core business, branching out into dedicated wireless data links. One of their early projects was for the NHS in Derby providing a link between their car parks and the main hospital building across the road for a number plate recognition system. This link has meant that expensive road works were avoided which would have been necessary for conventional cabling and would have caused much disruption to the local traffic and ambulance services. The wireless links can be provided with 5.8GHz or 2.4 GHz equipment. This section of the business now compliments the existing WISP business and their online shop for home wireless networking equipment, www.bbWiFi.com which has the advantage of having its wireless products tested on their networks.

The WISP business has expanded from a small wireless network over a year ago to one which now covers many parts of Wiltshire and Somerset. It has enabled areas with broadband that would otherwise be waiting until mid 2005 (if at all) for anything faster than dial up.

They have also been testing Home Wireless Networking equipment that can be used with an ADSL line and have selected what they feel is the best range of equipment available today. Further information about them can be obtained at their website www.broadbandwifi.co.uk
