BTexact Technologies security practice achieves further accreditation to BS7799
Added: (Thu Aug 23 2001)
BTexact believes that BS7799 is vital to gain further external business
The security practice within BTexact Technologies’, BT’s advanced research and technology business, announced today that it has been certified to BS7799-2:1999 by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance. BS7799 standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing and documenting an information security management system (ISMS).
BTexact has been accredited against BS7799 for some 18 months now. This further extension to BS7799-2 increases the practice’s accreditation to include consultancy, design, and assurance services, as well as penetration testing.
Mike Todd, head of security technologies at BTexact, said: “Now BTexact Technologies is actively engaged in selling security services outside of BT, formal recognition and accreditation by independent third-party auditors of the management, implementation and operation of these services is absolutely vital.
“This further accreditation is a significant and important achievement and milestone along the route to building BTexact Technologies into an internationally recognised best-of-breed security practice; and will form a prominent feature within future marketing and branding activities. Indeed, we believe that without accreditation it may not be possible to undertake security work across a range of sectors in the near future.”
