‘Reading’s latest opening bar and bistro serve up food… and comedy’

Cafe Cosmopolitan, Reading's newest bistro/cafe bar, is to launch a regular comedy night. Aptly named, the Comedy Basement this event will offer live comedy acts in the cafe's intimate lower ground floor every Friday and Saturday night. These innovative and exciting nights will include top name comedians, DJ sets, food and drink until 5.30 am and offer a great nights' entertainment at fantastic value. Kick starting the first show on Friday 23rd July 2010 will be Matt Kirshen followed by Paul B Edwards and headliner Nick Doody. Saturday night will continue on a comedy high with Aaron Counter, Andre King and Gerry K. All 6 comedians involved in the first Comedy Basement weekend are well known on the comedy circuit, having appeared on TV, at festivals and in comedy clubs around the country.

Mr Charn who owns both Cafe Cosmopolitan and also The Jazz Club is excited by this new venture and is quoted saying that "Cafe Cosmopolitan is different; it is the only venue locally to offer a full menu until 5.30 am which is perfect for the late night crowd wanting the best in freshly cooked cuisine. This tied in with the launch of our Comedy Basement, makes us totally unique in the area".

With plans to continue showing a variety of live acts and experimenting with a range of delicious world food, this is an adventurous time for Cafe Cosmopolitan at 8 Queen Victoria Street.
