Cheyenne, Wyoming, January 21, 2012 - Prayer for relationships have been proven to help couples who are in relationships in recovery through a couple’s counselor or on their own. Prayers can encourage couples to draw closer together and to take a second look at the relationship and often times it is what keeps them happily together and not just co-existing in the same home.

Many people have asked the same question throughout history, “Does prayer really work?” The short answer is yes. People are healed through prayers and businesses and lives have been saved because someone prayed for a solution. Relationships in recovery can also benefit greatly from the power of prayer. Especially if the couple prays together on a daily basis which is also beneficial if there are children present in the home.

A prayer such as the sample which is listed below can take only a few minutes a day to recite but can produce many benefits.

“May our commitment to each other forever and ever be strong and unbreakable because of our unconditional love for each other. Please keep thoughts of separations and temptations of infidelity far from our lives and help us to clearly understand the pain and sufferings caused by such actions. Please help us to guard our hearts from feelings and emotions that are harmful to our relationship and keep us from actions that are damaging to our union.” - D P Haynes

Married couples have separate prayers which include a prayer for the wife to recite asking for the husband’s health and safety and one for the husband to recite regarding the wife. Marriage counselors have been known to suggest prayer to couples who are having problems as a way to begin a dialogue about the underlying issues affecting the relationship.

While prayer can be good council for relationships which are experiencing problems many pastors encourage couples to begin praying before there are any problems. The old saying, “The family that prays together stays together”, is just as true today as when the phrase was coined.
