Pressbox (Press Release) - Melbourne, Australia, will enhance its reputation as an innovative knowledge city with the arrival of some of the best project cargo brains in the business to attend the Worldwide Project Consortiums annual Partnering for the Future conference from April 10-11, 2008, at the Langham Hotel, Southbank.
WWPC general manager Kevin Stephens said Australia and North American were the only two continents who had not hosted the annual conference, that attraced nearly 100 delages to Cape Town in March 2007.
Melbourne has been chosen to host the WWPC 2008 conference in line with our global philosophy and the need to not only be heard, but seen in every continent, Mr Stephens said.
Melbourne is also a global business and investment centre ideally located in the Asia Pacific time-zone. Australia is the first market to open each day, providing a time zone bridge linking the closing of the United States and the opening of the European markets.
WWPC Australian member Lindsay Jacgung of Allfreight International, based in Melbourne, is the conferences local host.
Allfreight International is a recognised leader in providing heavy-lift logistics solutions with more than 30 years experience.
Mr Jacgung said Melbourne would be very appealing for conference delegates around the world as a multi-cultural city that was rated one of the world's most liveable destinations.
He said Melbournes modern landmark buildings offered a superior business environment, coupled with a strategic transport network that included Australias only curfew-free 24 hour international airport, a major port, access to Australias busiest rail network and a highly efficient system of roads, highways and freeways.
Melbourne Airport has recorded the fastest growth of international passenger movements of any airport in the country while the Port of Melbourne retains its ranking as the freight and logistics capital of the nation, Mr Jacgung said.
