www.isanyonegoingto.com Windshield Time to Save the Planet…
, , <10/01/07> - www.isanyonegoingto.com is a fantastic web site that puts travellers in touch with one another before they make a journey. The site aims to reduce the number of cars on the roads at the same time make introductions. Our website puts members of the online community from the same geographical locations, travelling to the same destinations together. Saving money, inconvenience and more importantly our environment...

Membership to the site is free to anybody (18 years plus), register a username and password including your town or postcode to the ‘my going to’ page, then add a photograph of yourself and/or your vehicle, choose one of the 3 sectors that suits you best, leisure, business or student and enter in your travel arrangements or requirements and members can search these pages and communicate through Skype or email to arrange travel online and divide the cost of travel before meeting.

The database search functionality works with the latest mapping technology to pin point locations via post codes.

The site is built into 3 categories: Business / Leisure / Student

Business section for members who are seeking to share their daily commute, travelling to an expo, going to a meeting, making a one off journey, looking to share a taxi or even willing to share their car parking space. The Business section is geared towards reducing the Travel Expenditure on the Profit and Loss statement and to promote networking opportunities between like minded business people. Which benefits the environment by reducing the number of cars on the roads.

The Leisure section increases your social orbit by meeting new people who share your recreational pastimes and promotes a positive effect on reducing your carbon footprint.

Student/Young Persons section for introductions, car pooling, back packing, sharing accommodation and planning a gap year. The Student section aims to remove obstacles from Student travel by opening up opportunities to travel by significantly reducing the cost. Students can meet online before starting a course to arrange their movements and accommodation.

Quoting Sonia Slater founder of www.isanyonegoingto.com “Our fundamental objectives are to realise how we all can be environmentally sound and still have fun, improve the environment by reducing the number of cars on the roads, use the internet to introduce travellers and change the way we travel. There are over 32 million vehicles in the U.K. on average 24.6 miles are driven every day by a single user vehicle pumping in excess of 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions into our atmosphere. By doing ‘Your bit’ and sharing our vehicles to make vehicle journeys we can reduce the 499.4 billion kilometres driven on our roads each year damaging our ozone layer by producing 146 million tons of carbon dioxide. CO2 emission would be saved if everyone with a car cut 1 car journey per week, on average 400 trips per person per year would be reduced to 350. Road transport accounts for 22% of the total UK emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) a major contributor to climate change”.
